Did you know that over 40% of engagements happen between November and February? It’s no surprise this magical time of year is known as Engagement Season. With festive celebrations like Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve, followed by the romance of Valentine’s Day, it’s the perfect backdrop for popping the question.

Over this period - love is definitely in the air and we absolutely adore hearing each of your romantic yet unique proposal love stories. From just the two of you with your Buck's Fizz on Christmas Day Morning to a surprise getaway to Paris where they popped the question at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Each love story is perfection and once you've stepped into that newly engaged bubble - our experienced wedding planning team are on hand to guide you through this exciting journey.

As soon as you announce your exciting news to family and friends, the list of questions will be endless! Remember - this is just down to their excitement for you so try not to feel overwhelmed and enjoy the process.

At Chippenham Park on the Cambridgeshire-Suffolk border, we’ve been hosting weddings for nearly 15 years, gaining invaluable experience along the way. Our top wedding tip? Start with the Big 3: your wedding budget, your wedding date, and most importantly, your wedding venue. Once these are set, you can relax knowing the key pieces of your big day are in place.

Now the fun can begin!

Request viewings at the wedding venues that have caught your eye. We love showing potential couples around Chippenham Park and January is definitely our busiest time for private viewings. Don't forget to have a list of questions ready to ask! No matter how silly, big or small you might think they are - we have heard them all. Our Events Manager Beccy prides herself on knowing the answers to even the most outrageous questions.

"Yes, we can host a fairground carousel on the grounds."

"No, a procession of giraffes isn't permitted."

Of course, we’re biased, but we truly believe falling in love with our idyllic garden wedding venue at Chippenham Park is inevitable. If you feel the same, our dedicated wedding planning team is here to help you create your perfect romantic and magical day. We asked our team to share the top 5 attributes that make Chippenham Park so special:

  1. Award winning gardens. The gardens at Chippenham Park have an accolade of awards and are also an RHS Partner Garden. The snowdrops walks are renowned and visitors come from all over the country to enjoy them! With this in mind, it goes without saying that the photo opportunities within the grounds are limitless.

  2. Award winning caterers. Need we say more? Crown Catering, Cambridge are magicians when it comes to creating the most outstanding wedding day feast menus. I think we can say we were all a size smaller before we started sampling their delicious offerings!

  3. Exclusive Use. Our couples have exclusive use of Chippenham Park and grounds for their wedding venue. As a privately owned House and Gardens it retains a family feel, with the grounds only open to the public on specific dates throughout the year. It is a hidden gem of a wedding venue on the Cambridgeshire and Suffolk border.

  4. Close proximity. Situated in Ely just outside Newmarket, with easy access to motorways and transports links, from Cambridge, Norwich, London and more. Making it accessible for all your nearest and dearests to attend the big day!

  5. Dedicated wedding team. Small but mighty - how our wedding planning team has been described in the past! A dedicated team who will be on hand from start to finish to ensure your wedding day runs smoothly.

Our Wedding and Events Manager, Beccy, has been with us for over 12 years and we asked her for her top 3 tips for newly engaged couples:

  1. Be ruthless with your guest list. I always use this analogy - would you take that person out for dinner and pay for their meal? If the answer is no, then why are they on your day guest list? Weddings can be pricey and you are ultimately paying for their day out. Make sure it's your nearest and dearest, who you will celebrate with in years to come. Everyone will have an opinion but you only need yours!

  2. Have wedmin evenings/days. The wedding planning can take over your life somewhat but it should be an enjoyable process not a chore. Stick to set dates and times throughout the week to discuss the big day. Saving other spare moments for date nights, family meals and catching up with friends.

  3. Choose a venue with a wedding planning team onsite that can help you along the way. Whether it's talking through the wedding breakfast, discussing the layout plan or recommending the perfect band - a good team will always be on hand and happy to help - the Chippenham Park wedding planning team cough cough!
